Suffolk police officer burns hands when his car catches fire
A Suffolk police officer was burned on his hands after flames erupted in his cruiser Thursday in Coram, police said.
The fire began engulfing the vehicle on Wilson Avenue just after 3:15 p.m., police said. It appeared to be an electrical fire, which destroyed the marked car, police said.
The officer was treated for minor burns to his hands at Stony Brook University Hospital and released, police said.
No other details were available, police said.
