The Suffolk County Police Department is opening its doors to the public this week to give people a glimpse of law enforcement operations.

Police headquarters at 30 Yaphank Rd. in Yaphank will be open daily 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, as part of this year's Police Week.

"Residents can gain a better understanding of the extensive training and readiness of officers, as well as a chance to see the state-of-the art equipment used by those who protect and serve Suffolk County," the department said in a statement.

There will be live demonstrations by officers from Emergency Services, the Marine Bureau, and the Canine and Aviation sections.
