Suffolk police said they are seeking a man who pulled out a gun and demanded money at a branch of New York Commercial Bank in Shirley on Monday.

Officers said the man entered the bank at 950 Montauk Hwy. at about 3:30 p.m. and displayed the gun, handing the teller a note asking for money. The teller complied and the man left the branch and got into a waiting vehicle, Pattern Crime Unit detectives said.

The suspect was described as in his 40s with a medium build and standing about 6 feet tall, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
