A memorial service to honor the 64 Suffolk County correction officers and deputy sheriffs who have died in service since 1887 will take place Friday morning at the Riverhead Correction Facility in Riverside, officials said.

The master of ceremonies is Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford).

Suffolk County Sheriff Vincent DeMarco announced the annual service, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

The service is hosted by the sheriffs office, in conjunction with the Suffolk Correction Officers Association and the Suffolk Deputy Sheriffs PBA.

It will be attended by relatives of the fallen officers, as well as by other law enforcement officers, county officials and civilian personnel.
