The sun will make an appearance over the weekend, but there is also a slight chance of snow next week as Long Islanders endure a chilly, wet spring.
Friday night, there is a 30 percent chance of rain with lows in the mid-30s.
But the sun will return Saturday and Sunday, with highs both days in the low 50s.
"Partly sunny on Saturday, mostly sunny on Sunday," said Matt Scalora, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Upton.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy, with lows in the mid-30s. Sunday brings a chance of rain after 1 a.m., with lows in the low 30s.
"Rain Sunday into Tuesday, 40 to 50 percent," Scalora said.
Monday brings a 50 percent chance of rain and snow and highs in the high 40s. There is a 40 percent chance of rain at night, with lows in the mid-40s.
This winter season brought about 60.2 inches of snow to Long Island, according to Brookhaven National Laboratory.
This is not the highest recorded amount of snowfall on Long Island. The record was set in 1995-96 with 90.75 inches of snow.
This winter did set a record for the highest amount of snowfall during January, however, with 35.7 inches of snow.
Finally, on Tuesday, we'll get a glimpse of true springlike temperatures, with highs in the low 60s.
It will be mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of a thunderstorm during the day and at night. Nighttime lows will drop to the mid-40s.
Rain may also return Wednesday, when the highs will be in the mid-50s.
