A motorist who hit a center divider on Sunrise Highway in Babylon was struck by a pickup truck early Tuesday after she got out of her vehicle, Suffolk police said.

After hitting the eastbound divider between exits 38 and 39 about 5:20 a.m., she stopped the vehicle but was unable to open the driver’s door, police said.

When she exited the passenger door, a pickup truck struck her, according to police.

The unidentified victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was listed in serious condition, police said.

The pickup driver stayed at the scene, police said.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for almost four hours, authorities said.
