Sunrise Highway reopens after ice, crashes, Suffolk cops say
A stretch of Sunrise Highway has reopened after slippery roads Saturday morning caused multiple car crashes.
Just before 9 a.m., Suffolk County police reopened all lanes in both directions of Sunrise between Exits 39 and 42. There were accidents in the area, police said just before 6:30 a.m.
It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved in the crashes and if anyone was injured.
Police have also reopened the northbound lanes of County Road 97/Nicolls Road after it was closed between Route 25 and South Coleman Road because of icy conditions.
