He got cash, but, police said, he didn't pawn any gold to get it.

Instead, Jeffrey Green, 20, of Huntington Station, walked into the Cash 4 Gold pawnshop in Commack late Thursday afternoon flashed a handgun, announced a robbery - and demanded money and jewels, Suffolk County police said.

He got them and then he fled the scene on foot, police said.

The armed robbery took place at the store on Route 25 at about 4:15 p.m.

However, by 9 a.m. Friday, Suffolk County police officers had located Green in front of his home.

Police said Green also robbed a second pawnshop located at 82 West Main St. in Smithtown.

Green is charged with two counts of first degree robbery and third degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
