Suspect sought in deli assault, robbery

First Precinct detectives are looking for a man who sexually assaulted and robbed a Babylon Village deli worker in December, Suffolk County police said.

Police Tuesday released a portion of a video surveillance tape and photographs of the suspect.

Just after 4 p.m. on Dec. 20, police said the man, wearing a red jacket and black glasses, entered the deli and "violently assaulted" a woman, attempting to rape her in a back storage room.

After the assault, police said the suspect left, only to return "minutes later" to steal the woman's cell phone and wallet before fleeing again.

The video shows his return to the store, after removing his red jacket and glasses, police said.
