Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank Thursday afternoon in Mastic.

The robbery at the Capital One bank branch, at 1235 Montauk Hwy., occurred at about 3:40 p.m., Suffolk County police said. Police said investigators from the Pattern Crime Unit are trying to determine whether the case is related to other unsolved robberies in the area.

Police said that the suspect, described as being between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10 with a thin build and wearing a hat, blue jeans and a dark-color jacket with white sleeves, approached a teller, handing over a demand note. The teller complied, police said, and the suspect then fled with proceeds.

It was not clear how much was stolen in the robbery.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the robbery to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
