Suspect sought in Mattituck GameStop robbery
Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a GameStop store on Route 25 in Mattituck late Tuesday afternoon.
The robbery occurred just after 5 p.m., Southold Town police said. No one was injured.
Police said that after entering the store the robber demanded cash and "displayed what appeared to be a handgun." Police said he stole an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene.
Additional details were not immediately available.
It was not clear if the robbery was tied to the release of Call of Duty -- Ghosts. Gaming stores nationwide were mobbed with fans eager to purchase the game, meaning stores may have had more cash on hand than usual. The previous release in the Call of Duty series earned more than $1 billion in its first two weeks.
Police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to call 631-765-2600.
