Suspect sought in Shirley armed robbery

Police are searching for a man with a gun who committed an armed robbery in Shirley just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The robbery occurred on Surrey Circle and was reported in a 911 call at 1:57 p.m., Suffolk County police said.

Police said details were still emerging, but said an aviation unit helicopter had been dispatched to the scene to conduct a search -- and that Crime Scene Unit detectives also had been assigned.

No injuries were reported. No arrests have been made.
