If you think it was warm early Thursday morning, you're not alone. The sweltering heat and humidity from Wednesday afternoon, which reached over 90 degrees in parts of Long Island, stayed put during most of the night.

At sunrise on Thursday, the temperature in Farmingdale was 76 degrees, 74 at Long Island MacArthur Airport and in usually breezy Westhampton. It was an astounding 84 degrees at La Guardia Airport in Queens.

Highs are again expected to reach into the low 90s on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. The humidity is 77 percent.

The hot and sticky weather is supposed to continue throughout the week with temperatures soaring into the low 90s again on Thursday.

Forecasters said there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms Thursday afternoon and evening, when wind gusts are expected to reach 28 mph.

Humidity Friday could be reduced after the rain. However, temperatures are still expected to be in the low to mid-80s Friday and Saturday, with more rain expected Sunday, when temperatures could climb into the high 80s.
