Tate’s Bake Shop should reopen by the middle of next week after a Friday evening blaze caused limited damage to the interior, as well as an exterior wall and two tractor trailers parked at its East Moriches location, a spokeswoman said.

“Cleaning crews are already on site, working to address the damage,” Laurie Guzzinati said by telephone on Saturday. “We expect the facility will get back up and running, with business as usual, by the middle of next week.”

No one was hurt in the 6:24 p.m. blaze at 62 Pine St., East Moriches firefighters said, adding that the fire was under control in 25 minutes. But it drew firefighters from several districts including Center Moriches, Eastport, Mastic, Manorville and Westhampton Beach.

“The fire started when an external compressor being used for cleaning exploded,” Guzzinati said. The flames then spread to an adjacent tractor trailer bed, she said.

“Thankfully, no one was injured,” Guzzinati said.

The Town of Brookhaven fire marshal and the Suffolk Police Department's arson section are investigating, officials said on Friday.

Tate’s, known for thin cookies in green and white bags, bakes about 1.6 million cookies at its East Moriches facility daily, Guzzinati said. About 350 employees work at the site, she said. The company was acquired for about $500 million by snack food giant Mondelez International Inc. last May.

The company operates out of several facilities on the East End and has a retail bake shop in Southampton.
