Teen hospitalized after lightning strike
An 18-year-old woman was struck by lightning at an East Islip park Sunday evening, officials said.
The teenager, whom officials declined to identify, was struck in the Field 6 picnic area at Heckscher State Park just after 6 p.m. and was taken by ambulance to a hospital, said George Gorman, deputy regional director for New York State Parks.
Her condition was unknown late Sunday.
