A Selden woman, critically injured in a one-car accident on the Long Island Expressway on Thursday, was charged with driving while impaired by drugs, authorities said.

Brittany Ozarowski, 19, of Selden, was traveling west on the LIE between exits 52 and 53 about 1 p.m. when she apparently lost control of her vehicle and crashed into trees alongside the roadway, authorities said.

Ozarowski was taken by ambulance to the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for treatment, authorities said.

Shelley Lotenberg, a spokeswoman for the hospital, said the victim was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit of the hospital in critical condition.

Suffolk Sheriff's Chief Michael Sharkey said Ozarowski was seen by witnesses driving erratically and exceeding the speed limit right before the crash.
