A 16-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Sunday when he was struck by a pickup in Kings Park, Suffolk police said.

Jonathan Tully, of Kings Park, was riding his bicycle on Meadow Road, near Magellan Drive about 10 a.m. when he was hit by a 2008 Chevrolet pickup traveling westbound. The teen suffered a head injury and was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was admitted in stable but guarded condition, police said.

The pickup's driver, Brian Simmons, 21, of Kings Park, was not arrested or cited, police said. Though the investigation is ongoing, charges are not expected, officials added.

Further details of the crash were not released, and officers did not say whether Tully was wearing a bicycle helmet.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Fourth Squad detectives at 631-854-8452.
