A 19-year-old man was shot in the leg Wednesday night while walking on South 27th Street in Wyandanch not far from his home, Suffolk police said.

Chris Berry, of North 22nd St., was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip about 6:30 p.m. for treatment of the non-life-threatening injury, a bullet wound to his right leg, police said.

He was the second teenager wounded in Wyandanch from gunfire from a moving vehicle in about 24 hours, police said.

Det. Sgt. John Kempf said there is no clear link between the two incidents, but, "we're going to investigate as though there could be."

Niegal Lewis, 18, of North Babylon, was treated at the same hospital Tuesday after he was shot in his left ankle while riding a bicycle about 6:50 p.m. Tuesday on Nicolls Road near Napoli Drive, police said.

Investigators asked that anyone with information on either incident call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
