Suffolk County police say they have arrested one of the people who smashed a dump truck through the front of a Macy's store at the Smith Haven Mall early Tuesday, stealing an ATM and cash.

Police said the incident in Lake Grove was reported in a 911 call received at 2:34 a.m., and their search included a K-9 team and an aviation unit.

By late Tuesday afternoon, police had one person in custody and were trying to confirm the suspect's identity, police said.

Police said the ATM believed stolen from the mall has been recovered. It was not clear how much cash was in the machine or how much had been taken.

Police said a 911 caller reported a dump truck had smashed into the mall, then left with the ATM.
