Police: West Islip man was drunk when he drove into box truck

A West Islip motorist is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated after he rear-ended a box truck early Saturday, Suffolk County police said.
Thomas Cappelluzzo, 44, drove his 2014 GMC Sierra into the truck at Union Boulevard and Beach Street in West Islip at 12:13 a.m., police said.
The West Islip Fire Department responded to the scene and removed Cappelluzzo from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue tools.
Cappelluzzo was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip for undisclosed injuries, police said.
Cappelluzzo will be arraigned at a later date, police said.
The driver of the box truck was not injured.
