Three people were hurt, two seriously, after a two-car crash Sunday morning in Medford, Suffolk County police said.

The crash, between a 2001 Jeep and a 2003 Cadillac, occurred at 6:52 a.m. at Old Medford Avenue and Horseblock Road, police said.

The driver of the Jeep, Stephen Shanahan, 58, of Selden, was traveling east on Horseblock Road when he collided with the Cadillac, driven by Kendell Owens, 29, of Middle Island, police said.

Shanahan and Owens, who suffered serious injuries, along with Owens' passenger, a 25-year-old woman, were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

Police said the crash caused a small fire on the Cadillac, which officers extinguished.

Police impounded both vehicles for safety checks, and said the investigation is continuing.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-220-TIPS. Calls will be kept confidential.
