Three people whose boat capsized near Shinnecock Inlet Wednesday afternoon were rescued shortly after the trio fell into the water, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

Two wearing life preservers were found sitting on the hull of the 23-foot console by Coast Guard crew members, authorities said. The third was saved by a Good Samaritan who had called for help at about 3:30 p.m.

The boat's owner said several large waves crashed over the stern and the engine would not start, the Coast Guard said.

No one was injured.
