With warm weather on the horizon, much of the snow still sitting around in piles will melt this week, a forecaster says.

Springlike temperatures and sunshine are predicted through Friday, said meteorologists with the National Weather Service in Upton and Accuweather.com, based in State College, Pa.

"By Friday, I suspect there will be very little snow," said Tom Kines of Accuweather.

On Wednesday, there will be a "cold start for the day" in the high 20s, Kines said.

But the temperature will rise to the high 40s, according to the National Weather Service.

Thursday will see "even milder temperatures up to the 50s," Kines said.

Then, get set for Friday: Temperatures could reach the 60s, Kines said.

There may be a chance of precipitation Friday night, Kines said.

Winter will return Saturday and Sunday, with cold winds and temperatures in the low to mid-40s.

Tuesday was chilly, with a high of 31 degrees. A low around 15 was predicted for Tuesday night.
