Tot in serious condition after Bay Shore hit-run

A 20-month-old girl was struck and seriously injured Tuesday on a Bay Shore street by a dark-colored SUV that left the scene, Suffolk police said.
The child was rushed to Southside Hospital where police said she was listed in serious condition after the 4:25 p.m. crash on Howells Road.
Police said they were searching for the driver of the vehicle, who was last seen traveling west on Howells Road. The circumstances leading up to when the girl was hit were unclear Tuesday night.
