Passengers on some trains of the Long Island Rail Road's Montauk branch will face delays of an hour or more in the next few weeks as track tie replacement work and rail inspections mean buses will replace trains between some stations.

The work, which starts Monday and runs until Nov. 6, will take place between Babylon and Sayville. But the delays will affect riders all the way to Montauk.

The 8:52 a.m. train from Jamaica to Patchogue will be canceled during this period.

The impact of the change will be different for each of the six midday trains on the line.

Wednesday and Thursday, rail inspection will affect four more midday trains. The biggest delay will be Wednesday on the 2:51 train from Montauk to Jamaica, and riders will change to a train in Patchogue, adding 91 minutes to their trip. On Thursday, they will pick up the train in Westhampton, adding an hour to their ride.

Schedule information for each train is available online at mta.info or by calling the LIRR travel information center at 718-217-5477.
