Traffic stop ends in impaired-driving arrest
A 29-year-old Bridgehampton man who police said failed to stop for a stop sign Thursday night was arrested and charged with driving while ability-impaired by drugs -- as well as on an outstanding warrant for traffic violations.
Guido N. Arevalo was arrested by Southampton Town police after the traffic stop at 9:13 p.m. on Corwith Avenue in Bridgehampton.
Police said Arevalo was "found to be intoxicated" after an investigation and that he was charged with DWAI / Drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, failing to stop at a stop sign and unlicensed operation. He also was found to have an open bench warrant, issued in Southampton Town Justice Court, charged with failing to appear on previous vehicle and traffic law charges.
Police said Arevalo faces arraignment Friday in Southampton Town Justice Court.
