A man changing a flat tire on his van is lucky to be alive Tuesday after his jack moved and the vehicle fell on him.

Suffolk County police said Robert Powers, 51, of Lake Ronkonkoma, was pinned under his Ford van when it slid off the jack as he changed a tire in the CVS parking lot on Main Street in Holbrook at 12:25 a.m.

Police said though Powers was pinned at the chest, he somehow was able to call 911.

Responding Sixth Precinct officers Matthew Siesto, Michael Saletel and Francesco Saracino couldn't pull Powers from under the vehicle, but got a hydraulic jack, lifted the vehicle and got Powers free.

Powers was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center via Ronkonkoma Rescue ambulance.

Police said Powers sustained "non-life-threatening injuries."
