A motorist was temporarily trapped in his car Monday after it collided with a truck in Islip Terrace, police said.

The Dodge truck was coming out of a parking lot and turning westbound onto the Sunrise Highway service road when it collided with a Volvo about 11:45 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The driver’s side of the Volvo was pinned against the median and passenger-side doors were jammed shut by the impact with the truck, a police spokeswoman said.

Police officers used power tools to open the vehicle, the spokeswoman said. Firefighters assisted with the rescue.

The driver was removed and taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with injuries that were not life threatening, and the driver of the truck was not injured, the spokeswoman said.
