A tractor-trailer apparently got stuck on a Southern State Parkway overpass in Islip, closing two westbound lanes Wednesday morning, according to the state Department of Transportation website.

A 10:06 a.m. traffic alert posted at informny.com said the incident had closed the westbound lanes between Exits 44 and 43A. The website said the incident was resolved at 1:03.

A phone call to State Police was not immediately returned.

Commercial vehicles are not allowed on the parkway system because of low stone bridges.

Bridge clearances on some parkways are as low as 6 feet, 11 inches, according to the DOT.
