THE BUDGET

The district proposes a $19,095,393 budget for 2015-16, a 1.6 percent increase from the current $18,795,860. The local tax levy would rise 3.73 percent, from $16,822,884 to $17,451,407.

The increase is within the state's tax-cap limit of 3.73 percent, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. School taxes on the average single-family home would increase 3.89 percent, from $6,455.45 to $6,706.29.

The proposed budget cuts one part-time staff worker position. It includes estimated teacher salary increases, subject to negotiations and step increases in the 3 percent to 4 percent range.
