Two arrested in Greenport crack bust
Two men were arrested on felony drug charges Friday after an investigation by the East End Drug Task Force identified their Greenport residence as a crack house, police said.
Investigators from Southold Town Police, the Suffolk County district attorney and the East End Drug Task force executed a search warrant at a Sandy Beach Road house and arrested David Carey, 42, and Michael John Capuano, 63, on felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, according to a release by the Town of Southold Police Department.
Police said a substantial amount of crack cocaine and cash plus drug paraphernalia were recovered during the search. The two men also were selling drugs from the house, police said.
Carey, a convicted felon on parole, according to the release, also was charged with possession of a weapon; police said he had a shotgun. He was arraigned in Town Justice Court and ordered held without bail.
Capuano also was charged with criminal use of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned and is being held on $20,000 bail.
The East End Drug Task Force is funded by the office of the Suffolk County district attorney and includes investigators from its office and detectives, police officers and law-enforcement personnel from the New York State Police, the Suffolk County Police Department and its Probation Department, Riverhead Police Department, East Hampton Town Police, East Hampton Village Police, Southold Police Department and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office.
