A knife-wielding man and his girlfriend were arrested Sunday evening after a disturbance in Greenport, Southold Town police reported.

Michael Webster, 23, and Amanda Stetler, 20, both of Greenport, were arrested on Main Street at 8:11 p.m., police said.

Police said officers had responded to the scene after a 911 call reporting a man "attempting to gain entry" to the residence with a knife.

Webster was arrested after a brief struggle with officers, police said. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and resisting arrest. Police said Stetler also fought with responding officers at the scene -- and was charged with resisting arrest and harassment.

Both Webster and Stetler are scheduled for arraignment Monday in Southold Court.
