Two Suffolk County police officers rescued a Patchogue woman who fell into a marshy area of Swan Lake Monday morning when her canoe tipped, police said.

Linda Hall, 32, called a family member after falling into the water, police said, and the family called 911 at 10:35 a.m. Hall was not wearing a life jacket, police said.

When Fifth Precinct police officers Brian Loughlin and John Falcone arrived at the East Patchogue lake, they heard Hall screaming, "but could not see her due to the presence of thick reeds," police said in a news release.

The officers went into an area "waist-deep in muck and marshy water," said a police spokeswoman, to first locate her by following her voice.

The officers then "pulled her from the water onto the marshy area" before members of the North Patchogue Fire Department and other police helped the two officers and Hall out of the marsh.

Hall declined medical treatment. The officers were not injured.
