The driver and passenger of a Chevrolet Corvette suffered "non-life-threatening injuries" in a single-car crash Sunday night in Holbrook, police said.

The accident took place at 9:37 p.m., Suffolk County police said. They said the Corvette was headed east on Veterans Memorial Highway when the driver lost control of the car and slammed into a tree just west of Broadway.

An emergency responder said the impact caused the passenger to be ejected from the vehicle. The driver needed to be extricated.

The car was near-unrecognizable as a result of the crash.

Both the driver and passenger were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
