A school bus and a Nissan collided in Bay Shore Tuesday morning, sending two people to the hospital, Suffolk police said.

The crash happened about 7:35 a.m. on eastbound Sunrise Highway when the bus, carrying 27 students to St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip, was in the center lane and the Nissan was in the left lane, police said.

A 17-year-old student and the 39-year-old driver of the Nissan had minor injuries and were taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.

Investigators were trying to determine the cause of the crash, police said, and no charges have been filed.
