Two injured in E. Farmingdale rollover

Two people were injured when a car overturned on New Highway in East Farmingdale Wednesday morning, Suffolk County police said.

The single-car crash was reported at 7:48 a.m., police said. The road was closed until 8:58 a.m., according to police.

Police said the vehicle left the narrow, winding road that slices north-south between Republic Airport and several cemeteries and overturned into shrubs bordering the road.

The driver and passenger were both injured and taken by the East Farmingdale Fire Department to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said.

The condition of the two people injured was not immediately known. Police did not identify either person and had no immediate details on the car involved or what factors might have led to the accident. The incident occurred north of the Southern State Parkway, police said.
