Two people were seriously injured after a tractor trailer overturned Friday in North Patchogue, the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said.

Two trucks and one car were involved in the accident on the eastbound lanes of the Sunrise Highway at Exit 52, Waverly Avenue, authorities said.

The accident, which happened at 10:10 a.m., closed eastbound Sunrise Highway for about two hours, authorities said.

The injured were taken to area hospitals.

The sheriff's office declined to say what may have caused the accident and whether the injured were the drivers or any passengers.
