Two teen girls - one from Sag Harbor, one from East Hampton - were injured when their car was rear-ended by a truck transporting brick and tile Tuesday on Route 114 in East Hampton, East Hampton police said.
Police said passenger Emily Watson, 15, of East Hampton, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center with a severe head injury and broken bones. The injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Olivia Cunningham, 17, of Sag Harbor, who was driving the 1993 Honda, was admitted to Southampton Hospital.
East Hampton police Capt. Ed Ecker said the initial investigation indicated that the truck, owned by Southampton Brick Inc., and driven by August Bouker, 68, of East Hampton, crashed into the rear of the Honda as Cunningham was making a right turn onto a side street off Route 114 at 3:55 p.m.
The trunk and passenger compartment of the car were destroyed in the collision.
Both girls attend The Ross School in East Hampton, a school spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
No one was charged in the crash, police said.
The road, the main connector between East Hampton and Sag Harbor, was closed several hours for investigation.
