Two women who wound up on the tracks in Sayville and Bay Shore were hit by eastbound trains Monday morning and later hospitalized, a Long Island Rail Road spokesman said.

Neither woman was authorized to be on the tracks, the spokesman said.

An unidentified woman was on the tracks at McConnell Avenue, east of the Sayville station, around 9:30 a.m., spokesman Sal Arena said. She was hit by the 8:52 a.m. train out of Babylon and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with head and leg injuries.

At 12:30 a.m., at the west end of the Bay Shore platform, another woman, Brenda Moller, 37, of Ronkonkoma, was struck by an eastbound train that had originated from Penn Station and had left Babylon at 12:19 a.m.

She had a large cut under her left arm, Arena said, and was taken to South Side Hospital in Bay Shore.

Some morning trains were delayed 30 minutes to 90 minutes because of the incidents, Arena said.

The 9:34 a.m. from Patchogue due in Babylon at 10:04 a.m. was canceled.
