Underage drinking sting nets 5, cops say
Five people were arrested on Saturday night during an underage alcohol sting conducted by Suffolk County police.
Police said they sent minors seeking to buy alcohol from 12 businesses in Rocky Point, Middle Island, Ridge, Shirley and Mastic Beach during the sting, which ran from 8 to 11 p.m.
Employees at five of the 12 businesses sold alcohol to the minors, police said. While the sting took place at the other businesses, no arrests were made at those stores.
Arrested and charged with first-degree unlawful dealing with a child were: Bal Krishan, 52, an employee at BP Gas in Rocky Point; Rahat Khan, 25, an employee of BP Gas in Ridge; Muhammed Ayub, 30, an employee of Express Deli in Shirley; Saad Aziz, 39, an employee of Track Gas Station in Mastic Beach; and Mohammed Qureshi, 46, an employee of Parkway Deli and Convenience in Shirley.
All five were issued appearance tickets and will appear at First District Court in Central Islip in the future, police said.
