A dozen passengers were injured Tuesday after a van hit a tree on Baylis Road in Melville.
None of the 12 passengers in the van appeared to be seriously injured, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said.
A woman with an injured leg and two others with head injuries were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, said assistant chief Jason Bernfeld of the Melville fire department.
The other passengers were taken to Plainview Hospital, he said.
The Chevrolet van appeared to be traveling west at about 7:30 a.m. on Baylis Road, west of Maxess Road, in the Huntington Quadrangle when it struck the tree, damaging the driver's side front end.
It was not immediately clear if bad weather contributed to the crash.
In addition to police, the Dix Hills, Plainview, East Farmingdale and Farmingdale Village fire departments and the Huntington Community First Aid Squad also responded, Bernfeld said.
