Six hurt in van-SUV crash in Farmingville

A van carrying developmentally disabled adults collided with another vehicle in Farmingville Friday night, causing minor injuries to both drivers and the four van passengers, Suffolk police said.
The accident on Portion Road and Leeds Boulevard occurred at about 7:40 p.m. as the van traveled south on Leeds and turned east onto Portion Road and was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet SUV, police said.
Rescuers cut off the door of the van in order to free the victims.
The drivers and all four of the special needs adults were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries, police said.
