Police are trying to find those responsible for smashing toilets, ripping up trees and other vandalism at five Huntington parks.

The incidents occurred between Oct. 14 and Wednesday at Heckscher Park, Mill Dam Park in Halesite, Wolf Hill Park in Dix Hills, Veterans Park in Fort Salonga and John Walsh Park in East Northport. Most of the damage was to bathrooms.

Suffolk County police said that on Oct. 14, a vandal -- or vandals -- used a large rock to damage the men's bathroom at Heckscher. The next night, similar damage occurred at Mill Dam Park, police said.

Then, on Oct. 23 or Oct. 24, the men's and women's bathrooms were damaged at Wolf Hill Park. Police said there also was graffiti on the playground.

On Oct. 29, four sinks and toilets were damaged in a women's bathroom at Heckscher.

Next on the list was Veteran's Park, where 10 recently planted trees were knocked over on Nov. 5. Three others were uprooted -- pulled straight out of the ground.

On Wednesday, bathrooms at John Walsh Park were vandalized. There also was graffiti on the walls, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential and a $5,000 reward is being offered to any information leading to an arrest in the case.
