Mercedes-Benz, Harley, Jeep among 90 vehicles set for auction by Suffolk police

Looking for a used car, truck, motorcycle or even a boat? The latest Suffolk County police auction, slated for June 13 in Westhampton, features 90 impounded vehicles you can bid on — and maybe even find a deal on.
Everything from Ducati, Harley Davidson, Honda and Suzuki motorcycles to Dodge Ram, Ford and Chevy trucks will be offered for sale. There's even a 1992 Bayliner day cruiser boat available.
In the market for a used Cadillac STS? There's one. A Mercedes-Benz S550, 500SL or C300? The auction has them.
How about a Volkswagen Passat — or Jeep Grand Cherokee? Yes. And yes.
The auction is run by the Suffolk Police Impound Section and will take place at the impound yard at 100 Old Country Rd. beginning a 9 a.m. on June 13. Vehicles are available for inspection between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on June 11 and 12, as well as one hour before the auction on June 13.
All vehicles are sold in "as is" condition. Minimum bids are $500.
Participants must be registered to bid at the auction. Registration information, as well as terms and conditions, can be found at suffolkpd.org.
Most of the available vehicles are at least 10 years old, with many more than 20 years old; and a Chevrolet Caprice is more than 35 years old.
Among the potential stars of the auction are a 2024 Ducati Panigale motorcycle, a 2015 Harley Davidson Street 500, a 2016 Mercedes S550 and a 2024 Gator Marshall. There's even a 2021 Toyota Tacoma.
Some vehicles — among them a 2009 Porsche Cayenne and a 2018 Suzuki GZX — have salvage certificates. meaning they were declared a "total loss" by an insurer, making them illegal to register or drive, though they can be salvaged for parts.
