Michael Ferruzzo, 49, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested at his home Thursday, June 12, 2014, and charged with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. A man has been arrested after driving his vehicle into a detached garage and house in Central Islip late Wednesday, causing extensive damage, police said.

Michael Ferruzzo, 49, drove his 1996 Dodge minivan into a detached garage, and then through the exterior wall of a bedroom in the house on East Walnut Street, about 10 p.m., police said. The crash caused the wall to collapse.

None of the several people inside the house was injured, police said.

Ferruzzo fled the scene, heading south on Boulevard Avenue, police said.

Third Squad detectives arrested Ferruzzo on Thursday at his house at 194 Mohawk St. in Ronkonkoma about 6:30 p.m.

Ferruzzo was charged with criminal mischief in the second degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree. He will be held overnight at the Third Precinct, and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.
