Vehicle on LIRR tracks in Deer Park delays trains
A motor vehicle became stuck on the Long Island Rail Road tracks east of the Deer Park station early Thursday and delayed two trains, officials said.
The Suffolk County Police Department said it was alerted to the disabled vehicle at Long Island Avenue in Baywood and reported it to railroad officials at 6:24 a.m.
The MTA, parent agency of the railroad, said the vehicle delayed the 6:12 a.m. eastbound train from Penn Station, which had been due in Ronkonkoma at 7:32 a.m., for 37 minutes, a spokeswoman said.
The westbound 6:40 a.m. train from Ronkonkoma, due in Penn Station at 7:59 a.m., was delayed 38 minutes, the spokeswoman said.
