A Center Moriches man riding his bicycle was killed when he was struck by a sport utility vehicle Thursday morning, police said.

Victor Morales was riding on Montauk Highway in Center Moriches at 7:27 a.m. when he attempted to cross the roadway just east of Railroad Avenue and was struck by 2012 Nissan Pathfinder traveling eastbound.

Morales, 26, was taken by Center Moriches Fire Department ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Pathfinder, Vera Bailey, 60, of Shirley, stayed at the scene and no charges were filed against her.

She was uninjured, police said.

The road was closed for about three hours for investigation, police said.
