Queens man critically hurt in Deer Park car crash, cops say

A Queens man was critically injured Thursday afternoon when he lost control of the car he was driving and struck a tree in Deer Park, Suffolk police said.
Vijay Maraj, 29, of South Richmond Hill was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore after the 2 p.m. crash on Commack Road near Nicolls Road, First Squad detectives said.
The vehicle, a 2001 Lexus, was impounded for safety checks.
The accident is under investigation, police said. Detectives ask anyone with information to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
