A motorcycle rider and his passenger were seriously injured when their bike collided with a car that turned in front of them Thursday afternoon on Route 25A in Wading River, Riverhead Town police said.

The identities of the rider and passenger were not released, but police said both were “thrown from the motorcycle” — and were airlifted by Suffolk County police medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.

Police said the crash happened at 5:23 p.m. at the intersection of Route 25A and Little Leaf Court.

The 2017 Harley Davidson was headed westbound on Route 25A, police said, when a 2007 Mitsubishi driven by Dorothy O’Brien, 87, of West Hempstead, “turned in front of the motorcycle causing the motorcycle to strike same.”

O’Brien also was injured and was taken to Stony Brook. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police said both vehicles were impounded for a safety check and said the investigation into the accident was continuing.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the crash to call them at 631-727-4500.
