Wainscott school district
VOTING
2 to 8 p.m. at Wainscott School.
THE BUDGET
The district proposes a $3,064,360 budget for 2015-16, a 1.58 percent decrease from the current $3,113,487. The local tax levy would decrease 2.04 percent, from $2,413,487 to $2,364,360. An increase of 3.89 percent is allowed under the state's tax cap, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
The district did not provide the increase in the dollar amount of the school tax on the average single-family home because final assessment figures were not available.
The proposed budget calls for an increase in teacher salaries of 3 percent. The district does not provide step increases. Staffing and programs are maintained at current levels.
